It’s a secret most of us already share, but now the rest of the world is quietly waking up to the truth about La Paz’ majestic charm. In its December issue, Colorado Avid Golfer magazine explores the hidden treasures of La Paz, including its sparkling new reputation as an international golfing destination. “Leave it to the guy renowned for crafting the world’s best dunes and links courses to build a course like Bahia de los Sueños,” the magazine says about Tom Doak’s design.
Reporter Jake Kubié discusses the “growing sentiment that [La Paz] the vibrant, 400-year-old city of more than 200,000 is fast becoming a formidable golf destination, poised to rival Cabo San Lucas, just two hours south. Within a few miles of La Paz, three high-profile golf, resort and real estate developments have recently taken form.” Earlier this year Kubié spent time visiting golf courses up and down Baja Sur. His report outlines new developments at Bahia de los Sueños, Costa Baja, Paraiso del Mar and Diamante Dunes.
“Tom Doak’s 7,010-yard Baja masterpiece blends supple, rolling fairways, roughhewn bunkers and greens that reflect the landscape’s undulations into a stunning landscape of arroyo canyons and white sands backed by views of the Sea of Cortez,” Kubié reports.
