The Sea of Cortez, just off the coast of Bahía de los Sueños, teems with hundreds of species of marine life. The area is known as “The World’s Aquarium” due to the abundant sea life that thrives here. Among the species in The Sea of Cortez are gray whales, whale sharks, seals, manta rays and many more!
Divers and scientists regularly come to La Paz to explore the underwater kingdom. Like other visitors and residents of La Paz, they appreciate that this area is far less crowded than Los Cabos. The Sea of Cortez has even been named a UNESCO (United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage site, which means it is protected as a reserve for the animals, allowing this precious environment to be a huge attraction for snorkelers and divers.
